In Fall 2011, the Minneapolis College of Art & Design marked a significant milestone—its 125th anniversary. To commemorate this institutional achievement, I was commissioned to create a specialized architectural projection for their celebratory Gala event. The project involved meticulous archival research, with historical images spanning the college’s extensive legacy carefully selected and digitized through high-resolution scanning processes.

These curated visual elements were then incorporated into a sophisticated projection mapping installation specifically designed to interact with the architectural features of the building’s exterior. The animation sequence was precisely calibrated to engage with structural elements such as windows, cornices, and façade details, creating an immersive visual experience that transformed the physical structure into a dynamic canvas. This technical approach enabled the building itself to become an integral component of the historical narrative.

The resulting installation presented a visually compelling chronological journey through the institution’s distinguished history, with each transition and movement deliberately choreographed to highlight significant moments in the college’s evolution. This site-specific projection successfully merged historical documentation with contemporary digital techniques, creating a memorable visual experience that honored the college’s enduring contribution to art and design education.
